Happy Art!

Art Show at Polka Dots shop, a few weeks ago.  My friend Sherri shared a booth space with me.  

We had a fun mix of vintage, hand painted and hand made fabric goods.  I love Sherri's fabric hoops.

Aren't they cute?  I know have the two on the right.  

I took a fun mix of canvases.  Everyone loves the "Happy Camper" canvas.

My friend Sandra Feazel also brought her cuteness as well.  Love her artwork!

She had a fun mix of vintage, market and her fabulous artwork.  

LOVE that moss covered manni form.

It was a great day to just sit outside and hang out with other crafty gals.  Of course, we all bought from each other, that's always the best fun at an artful gathering.  I personalized some painted canvases and just enjoyed the down time.  Hopefully we can do another show together again soon.

English Pop Up Shop

 My friend "J" traveled to England last January on a buying trip.  From the photo's that she shared it looked like it was wonderful fun.  And she found many lovely goodies.  Her cousin, allowed my friend, to use her wonderful home as the shop.  I thought you might enjoy some pictures of the event, from last week.  

Her cousins home is really lovely and its on one of the prettiest streets in town. Her newly redone porch just needed a picture of lemonade and a book to be perfect.

Inside, treasures awaited.  Loads of lace, nicely priced, and such a wonderful variety of textures and colors.  

I'm not a lace girl.  At all.  And even I succumbed to buying a few pieces, cause the prices were just that good.  

 My friend "M" had a fit that these pieces were wrapped around old organ pulls. Very creative indeed.  

 No sale of goods from England would be complete without a photo somewhere of the Queen!

 Yes, I've seen these countless times here in the states, but never any quite as pretty.  I snapped up one of these as well.  

Loved this mini dress form dressed in vintage, rusty keys.  I can just imagine the doors that they've all unlocked.

 The sun room was decked to the nines with all things garden.  Fun tags gave a little bit of history or info on the item.  

Such a pretty room.  A perfect place for a morning cup of coffee and bird song.  

This is my weird angle shot, but I wanted to capture this little vignette of furniture that runs down a walkway.  I'm a sucker for brown and burlap and this was just a lovely mix of patterns and colors.  

Knowing J and her cousin, I'm sure that they had tons of fun displaying all those wonderful goods out.

They set out a lovely "tea" as well.  

The devil is always in the details and I loved the great napkins they chose.  I had to swipe one.  

Adored this plate "wreath" that her cousin made.  

Such pretty restful colors throughout her home.  We took a sneak peek in some of the rooms.  

Such lovely displays and such wonderful things.  I had to really struggle to walk away from the wonderful charm bracelet in the pic above.  

But here are the goodies that I did end up with.  Bits of lace, the metal piece, a key, a small frozen charlotte head, small piece of Majolica, sachet, a vintage book and my personal FAVE, a toast rack.  The sale was loads of fun, saw many friends there and what a delight to see such wonderful things.  The anglophile in me was dancing with joy!  

Happy Colors

When I begin to work on projects, I tend to start one color palette and then stick with that till I run out of paint or get board with it.  Ever since I went to Dallas Market (for work), I've been stuck in "happy" colors mode.  LOVE the feel of these colors....kind of 70's retro.  Granny chic.

Found these pillow cases in my fabric stash bin...thought they were perfect for the mode I'm in.

Had fun creating these "love letters".  My friend bought them for her laundry room.  Can't wait to see how they look.   And hoop art.  Its just the cutest to me right now.

Designed a canvas for a friends birthday gift and its turned out to be one of my favorite designs.

 Love it so much, I'm doing a green one for me.

From Halloween to Christmas

From Halloween to Christmas in Crafting

It seems as though I can never get enough Fall.  I try to slow down and savor the delicious moments that happen in the season, that first taste of something with pumpkin in it (as in the wonderful pumpkin bisque I had the other day) or the first cool snap of weather.

But sometimes no matter how hard I try, I always feel like I'm galloping right past Fall and running headlong into winter and the Christmas season.  With that thought in mind, how appropriate that I have a Halloween post as my last post and today, I'm posting about Christmas ornies.

Such pretty colors, I can just see these on a white flocked tree.

A group of friends came over Saturday night to do a little crafting.  Our inspiration, was of course, Pinterest.  One of the gals in my "art group" found this pic and fell in love:

I've been a fan of Nancy Maxwell James for ages.  And I was also looking for a "Paris Inspired" Christmas Ornament and I thought this fit the bill perfectly.  Nancy's were more monochromatic than ours turned out to be.  And at one point one of us tried the fabric skirts, but I think that got tossed aside in favor of just leaving them as is.

Their skirts were just too pretty to cover up and dangles and glitter were added instead.

And VINTAGE!  I dug out these great light reflectors (from the 50's) and they added the perfect background for our lovely Parisian ladies.

I created this one, love the gold.

As did an array of plastic snowflakes, leaves, flower petals and feathers.  Some of the goodies to decorate with came from the dollar store and some came from Michael's.  A touch of Stickles was often all that was needed for finishing touches.
